Conscious Inhalation Sedation with Nitrous Oxide and Oxygen in Children: A Retrospective Study

Dental anxiety is a common problem in younger children, especially those who have had traumatic or perceived dental treatments. Nitrous oxide (N2O) and oxygen (O2) been recommended by the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry as optimal approach for uncooperative anxious patients. The study aimed to evaluate cooperation children treated on deciduous teeth without local anesthesia with rubber dam. A retrospective was conducted from January 2019 December 2020 private practice aged 4–10 years previously reported cases during procedures refused undergo them. After an initial cognitive examination, underwent conservative treatment lasting maximum 30 min. Initially, 100% O2 administered, then N2O dose gradually increased 35%. At end treatment, pure administered 5 Children’s assessed Venham score before (T0), at induction (T1), (T2). total 371 (age: 6.3 ± 1.7 years) were included study.
